Katerine’s Bio

  • At Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile Savard took home five medals including gold in 4×100 freestyle and 4×100 medley; silver in 4×100 mixed medley and bronze in both the 4×200 and 4×100 mixed free.
  • At the 2023 World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, Savard swam preliminary heats of the 4×200 and 4x100m freestyle relays, which finished fifth and seventh in the finals.
  • Made semifinals in both the 50m butterfly and 100m butterfly, where she finished 12th and 13th.
  • Long time national team member Savard broke the Canadian record and took bronze in the women’s 4×100-m freestyle relay at the FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) 2022 in Melbourne, Australia. She also helped the 4×200 free relay to silver and the 4×100 medley to bronze.
  • Savard swam in the women’s 4×200-m freestyle relay that earned bronze and was a heat swimmer for the 4×100-m freestyle relay that went on to capture silver at the 2022 FINA World Championships in Budapest. By adding long-course FINA world championships medals to her collection, Savard now has at least one medal from every major international championships. Individually, she finished 11th in the 100-m butterfly and 13th in the 50-m butterfly. She was also part of the mixed 4×100-m medley relay team that finished 11th.
  • At the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Savard advanced to the semifinals and finished 16th in the 100-m butterfly. Savard was a member of the mixed 4×100-m medley that placed 13th overall. She also swam in the preliminaries for the women’s 4×200-m freestyle that finished fourth in the final.
  • At her second Olympic Games, Savard was a part of the 4×200-m freestyle relay that won a bronze medal and broke the Canadian record.
  • She also made it to the semifinals of the 200-m freestyle where she finished 15th.
  • At the 2021 FINA World Championships (25m), Savard won gold and broke the Canadian record as member of the 4×100-m freestyle. Savard was also a member of the 4×200-m freestyle that won gold and broke the Americas record. Savard swam in the preliminaries for the mixed 4×50-m freestyle that went on to win gold, and the women’s 4×100-m medley that captured silver. Individually, Savard finished 12th in the 100-m butterfly and 13th in the 200-m butterfly.
  • At the Lima 2019 Pan American Games, Savard was a member of the women’s 4×200-m and 4×100-m freestyle that brought home silver and bronze.
  • At the 2022 Commonwealth Games, Savard was a member of the 4×200-m freestyle relay that captured silver and the 4×100-m freestyle relay that earned bronze. Individually, she placed 5th in the 100-m butterfly and 8th in the 50-m butterfly and in the 100-m freestyle.
  • Savard captured silver in the 100-m butterfly at the Bell Canadian Swimming Trials 2022. She qualified for both the 2022 FINA World Championships and the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
  • At the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Trials, Savard captured silver in the 100-m butterfly. She also placed 4th in the 50-m, 100-m and 200-m freestyle. Savard’s performance qualified her for her third Olympic Games.
  • At the 2017 FISU Summer Universiade in Taipei, Savard won gold in the women’s 4×100-m freestyle relay.
  • At the 2017 FINA World Championships in Budapest, Savard was a member of the women’s 4×200-m freestyle relay that placed eighth. She also finished 15th in the 200 free.
  • At the 2017 Canadian Swimming Trials, Savard qualified for her fourth FINA World Championships with two golds and a silver medal. She set a personal best time to win the 200-m freestyle. She also won the 200-m butterfly and finished second in the 100-m fly. She also was selected to represent Canada at the 2017 FISU Universiade in Taipei.
  • At the 2016 FINA World Swimming Championships (25-m) in Windsor, Ont. Savard took part in four individual events along with three relays. Savard made the finals in all four of her individual events, with the best result being a 4th place finish in the 100-m butterfly in a new Canadian record time of 56.15. Savard had a personal best times in the 200-m freestyle and a new Canadian record in the 50-m butterfly. She finished off her individual events with a 7th place finish in the 200-m butterfly.
  • At the same competition, Savard earned a gold medal with teammates Taylor Ruck, Kennedy Goss and Penny Oleksiak in the 4×200-m freestyle that set a new Canadian record. She also earned a silver medal with teammates Kylie Masse, Rachel Nicol and Penny Oleksiak in the 4×100-m medley relay. She also swam in the preliminaries for the mixed 4×50-m freestyle relay that went on to capture bronze.
  • At the 2016 Canadian Olympic & Para-Swimming Trials, Savard finished with a bronze medal in the 200-m freestyle, which earned her a berth on the Olympic team. Her triumph was made greater by the fact that she had missed qualifying in her specialty event, the 100-m butterfly, just two days earlier.
  • At the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games, Savard earned a bronze medal in the 100-m butterfly. She also finished fourth in the 200-m freestyle.
  • At the Pan Ams, Savard was the third swimmer in the Canadian and Pan Am Games record-setting 4×100-m freestyle relay with Michelle Williams, Sandrine Mainville and Chantal Van Landeghem, which won gold. She was also the second swimmer of the 4×200-m freestyle relay that took a bronze medal.
  • At the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, she won the 100-m butterfly in Commonwealth Games record time, and also helped the 4×100-m medley relay to a bronze medal. She added another bronze medal to her collection in the medley relay at 2014 Pan Pacific Championships in Gold Coast, Australia.
  • She won the gold medal in the 100-m butterfly and silver in the 50-m butterfly at the 2013 World University Games in Kazan, Russia. Her victory in the 100 was in Games record time. She followed up at the 2013 FINA World Championships by placing fifth in the 100-m butterfly.
  • Savard made her Olympic debut in 2012, finishing 16th in the 100-m butterfly, 19th in the 200-m fly and contributing to a 12th place finish in the relay.
  • Katerine qualified for her first senior national team in 2010. At the 2010 Pan Pacific Championships in Irvine, she finished 6th in the 100-m butterfly with a new junior Canadian record. At the Delhi Commonwealth Games, she was 7th in the 50-m butterfly and 8th in the 100. At the 2010 World Championships (25-m) in Dubai, she was 12th in the 100-m butterfly and broke the junior Canadian record, and she was 15th in the 50 m butterfly.
