Mackenzie’s Bio

• At the 2018 Pan Pacific Championships, Padington was a member of the women’s 4×200-m freestyle relay that captured bronze. Individually, she finished 10th in the 800-m freestyle and 14th in the 400-m freestyle.
• At the Gwangju 2019 FINA World Championships, Padington finished 18^th in the 800-m freestyle and 24^th in the 400-m freestyle.
• At the 2019 Canadian Swimming Trials, Padington swept the distance events, winning the 400-m, 800-m and 1500-m freestyle to qualify for the 2019 FINA World Championships. She swam a personal best in the 400-m freestyle.
• Mackenzie Padington won three golds at the 2018 Canadian Swimming Trials in the 400-m, 800-m and 1500-m freestyle.
• At the 2017 FINA World Championships in Budapest, Padington was a member of the women’s 4×200-m freestyle that finished eighth.
• At the 2017 Canadian Swimming Trials, Padington qualified for her first FINA World Championships with gold medals in the 400-m and 800-m freestyle events. She swam personal bests in both events, making the team in the 400, then smashing her previous best by 20 seconds in the 800.
• She continued her strong swimming at the 2017 Speedo Eastern Canadian Championship in Etobicoke, Ont., Padington finished with five gold and two silver medals. Her gold medals were in the 100-m freestyle, 200-m freestyle, 400-m freestyle, 200-m breaststroke and 200-m individual medley.
• Mackenzie’s sister, Taylor, was an NCAA swimmer at Boise State.
• She has looked up to Ryan Cochrane since she was young. Watching Cochrane win bronze in the 1,500-m freestyle at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games made her want to continue to swim.
