Alec’s Bio

  • At the Madeira 2022 World Para Swimming Championships, Elliot earned bronze in the 400-m freestyle S10 and 100-m backstroke S10.
  • At the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, Elliot finished fifth in the 200-m individual medley SM10, the 400-m freestyle S10, and the 100-m butterfly S10 in a personal best time. Elliot also finished ninth in the men’s 50-m freestyle S10.
  • At the 2018 Pan Pacific Para Swimming Championships in Cairns, Elliot won gold medals in the 100-m backstroke S10, 100-m butterfly S10 and the 200-m individual medley SM10 in a personal best time. He also captured a silver medal in the 400-m freestyle S10.
  • At the London 2019 World Para Swimming Championships, Elliot claimed his first career medal at worlds, bronze in the 400-m freestyle S10. He also reached the final in his two other individual events, the 200-m individual medley SM10 (4th) and 50-m freestyle S10 (8th), and set a personal best time in the 200 IM.
  • Elliot finished 5th in the 100-m butterfly S10 at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
  • Elliot won a multi-class gold medal in the 100-m backstroke at the 2022 Bell Canadian Swimming Trials. He also captured silver in the 200-m IM multi-class and earned a bronze in the 100-m butterfly multi-class. His performances qualified him for both the 2022 World Para Swimming Championships and the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
  • At the 2019 Canadian Swimming Trials in Toronto, Elliot piled up five multi-class medals (tying him for most among Para-swimming team members), including a team-high four gold (100-m freestyle, 400-m freestyle, 100-m butterfly, 200-m individual medley) as well as one silver (50-m freestyle). He set personal best times in the 100-m freestyle, 400-m freestyle and 200-m individual medley.
  • At the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, Elliot was busy as he competed in six events. His best result had him 4th in the 100-m butterfly.
  • He swam in the finals of the 100-m backstroke (7th) and 50-m freestyle (8th). He also competed in the 100-m breaststroke (10th), 100-m freestyle (11th) and the 400-m freestyle (11th).
  • He contributed to a Canadian record in the 34pts 4×100-m medley relay, which finished 7th.
  • Won five medals at the Parapan Am Games: Silver in the 400-m freestyle, Bronze in the 100-m breaststroke, 100-m butterfly, 200-m IM and 100-m backstroke.
  • Elliot reached the final in five individual events at the 2015 IPC Swimming World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland, where he Finished 5th in 100-m backstroke and 6th in 100-m butterfly.
  • In 2014, he earned a berth on his first Canadian team for the Pan Pacific Para-swimming Championships in Pasadena. He earned silver medals in the 400-m freestyle and 100-m butterfly as well as a bronze in the 100-m breaststroke. He was second to compatriot Nathan Stein in the 100-m fly as both went under Benoit Huot’s national record.
  • Elliot was born with a rare condition called syndactyly which limits the use of his hands and feet.
