Tyson’s Bio

  • At the Madeira 2022 World Para Swimming Championships, MacDonald was a member of the mixed 4×100-m freestyle S14 relay that placed 4th and the mixed 4×100-m medley S14 relay that placed 5th. Both relays broke Canadian records.
  • At the 2022 Bell Canadian Swimming Trials, MacDonald earned silver in the 200-m freestyle multi-class and 100-m backstroke multi-class. His performances qualified him for the 2022 World Para Swimming Championships.
  • At the 2019 Canadian Swimming Trials in Toronto, Macdonald picked up multi-class silver medals in the 200-m freestyle and the 100-m backstroke.
  • MacDonald’s breakthrough season in Para-swimming came in 2018-19. In February 2019, he competed at the season-opening World Series event in Melbourne, Australia, at the Victoria Open Championships.
  • A former Olympic program swimmer who made the transition to Para-swimming in 2018, MacDonald was named MVP of Wilfrid Laurier University’s swim team in 2016-17, his second season with the Golden Hawks.
